Valley of Roses and Dades Gorges

One day trip : 4x4 vehicle recommended but possible with a standrard car

The Valley of Roses begins around Kelaa M’Gouna ant it runs along the Mgoun creek for various kilometres before the Dadès Gorges. It is in this valley that roses are harvested around mid May to obtain rose water and other beauty products based on the essence this flower. However, the roses are no the only attraction of the valley.

Along the road, you discover fantastic landscapes where colours vary from the lush green of the vegetation in the oasis to the black of the volcanic rocks. There are small villages nested among the various valleys and small canyons. The incredible landscape changes again once one reaches the high altitude desert at Ait Youl where the earth colours change from beige to a deep red and occasionally dark purple. The movie "Le Salaire de la peur" was filmed there. According to the season, you may come across the local Ait Atta nomads driving their herds along the way.

This excursion starts after breakfast (9am) and you will be back in the late afternoon. Lunch is booked in a restaurant of the Dadès Gorges. Depending on the season and the type of vehicle used for the trip, we take more or less tracks.
